For 50 years, we have been using only the best
ingredients to achieve that "Old World" taste, and are
satisfying customers across Canada with over 200 products including
breads, buns, cakes and pastries. Our cakes have a great taste
that's incomparable.
We also are proud to
specialize in custom design breads and cakes, and we have many
wedding and holiday products for all seasons to anticipate your
year-around baking needs.
As one of Toronto's
oldest and most successful family-run bakeries, we proudly provide
product quality and freshness to all of our customers, large or
small. With over 250 employees, our 65,000 sq. ft. bakery operates
24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our order desk is open every day,
closed on Sunday, for
your convenience.
Our current customer
base in Ontario covers all areas of the food industry. These include
small specialty bakeshops and delis, independent retailers, local
chain stores and the larger regional chain store groups. A huge
emphasis is placed on the food service sector including restaurants,
caterers and regional and national food service chains serviced
through distributors. When comparing price, compare the value of
quality, size and service.
OUR HISTORY

First store opened in 1957
In the winter of 1957,
Toronto's first Open Window Bakery was opened. Max Feig and his
associates arranged the store so that their customers could watch
the bakers in full view. Thus the name "Open Window".
Continuing on the family tradition is Gail Agasi (Max's daughter).
Together they persist in keeping the principles of quality and
freshness foremost in the family's philosophy.
Open Window enjoys a
unique position in the baked goods industry in that it is a
manufacturer, wholesaler and retailer of a complete line of breads,
rolls, bagels, chalas, cakes, danishes, cookies and more. The finest
Kosher ingredients are used to produce a quality product found in our
corporate stores, franchises and approximately 500 independent outlets and chains which carry Open Window's products
across Ontario and the nation.
65,000
sq. ft. of Production in Ontario, Canada
|
Although most of our company's stores
continue to do some baking on site, Open Window's main production
centre is in North York (Toronto), on Finch Avenue (just west of
Dufferin).
Today, more than
250
people are employed by Open Window Bakery at the plant
and the 10 corporate and franchise stores. Many employees
have been with Open Window for over ten years, some for as long as
thirty-nine years. We are an equal-opportunity employer and a
true reflection of Canada's multi-cultural mosaic population.
There is no glass ceiling for any employee regardless of race,
colour, gender or religion.
OUR HIGH STANDARDS
The health and safety of
our employees is a prime concern of Open Window. Our company
is up-to-date with IAPA training. All
managers have training in First Aid skills, and all employees are
regularly updated on safety issues.
Open Window
Bakery is running a food safety program managed by a certified
manager.

OUR
RECIPE FOR SUCCESS
Even though our company
is now equipped with modern production equipment, many of the
products are still hand-formed, ensuring that "Old World"
traditions of baking are still practiced. Only vegetable oil
and shortening, fresh grade A eggs and the very best of ingredients
are used.
Many breads and pastries
at Open Window Bakery have been developed in-house and are uniquely
popular with our clientele. Examples range from the Chocolate
Ring and Creamy Carrot Cheesecake to Wedding Cakes. New
recipes are constantly developed and tried, resulting in a
continuous flow of new products. Also, from its inception,
Open Window has made and sold the finest quality bagels. Now
that this product has been suddenly discovered by so many, Open
Window production has almost quadrupled, this despite ever
increasing competition.
The spirit of Max Feig,
is held true by his daughter, Gail Agasi. Open Window
continues the best in European baking traditions. Our
ever-increasing product line continues to cater to a broad ethnic
clientele and our fine service ensures customer loyalty. The
principles of quality and freshness are foremost in the family's
philosophy, and even though the sales volumes continue to grow over
the years, the family is uncompromising in regulating its
"recipe for success".
